Algeria-Ferrostaal JV

Algeria-Ferrostall JV is a joint venture between the government of Algeria, Ferrostaal, and several other German automakers. These include Rheinmetall, Daimler, Deutz, and MTU. The JV will create three auto assembling plants in Algeria. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in 2009. The plants will be located in Tiaret, Ain Smara, and Oued Hamimine. Construction will start in 2010 in Tiaret and at completion is expected to produce 10,000 cars and trucks.
Aabar Investments will take a 24.5% stake in the JV for an undisclosed amount. Aabar's board of directors approved this investment in February 2010. Ferrostaal is majority owned by International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) which is also the owner of Aabar.
