Bharti Airtel is telecommunications firm based in India. It is one of the largest in India.
In August 2007, Temasek Holdings was given an option to take a stake 5% stake for slightly more then $2 billion (Rs8,200 crore).
In December 2007, Temasek joined a consortium of investors including the Investment Corporation of Dubai, Goldman Sachs, Macquarie, AIF Capital, Citigroup and India Equity Partners bought a $1 billion stake for 9% of shares in Bharti Infratel, a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel. Temasek is the largest investor.
Bharti launched takeover talks for Zain Africa, a unit of Zain Telecom, which was is partly owned by the Kuwait Investment Authority.
The Government Pension Fund of Norway held a 0.32% stake in the company as of December 31, 2009. The stake is valued at $86,500,619.
