BlackRock is asset manager based in the United States. Five sovereign wealth funds have a stake in BlackRock: the Kuwait Investment Authority, China Investment Corporation, Government Pension Fund of Norway, Temasek Holdings, and the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation. It is believed several SWFs increased their holdings after BlackRock's recent capital raising.[1]

The Kuwait Investment Authority invested $750 million into BlackRock according to the KIA's CEO Bader Al Sa'ad. The investment occurred in May 2009. [2]

The China Investment Corporation had a stake that was less than 3%(3,074,094 shares) before selling off all their shares in the summer of 2012.[3] The stake was valued at $713.805 million. The CIC and BlackRock agreed to create an Chinese-focused investment fund in April 2012.

The Government Pension Fund of Norway held a 0.09% stake in the company as of December 31, 2009. The stake is valued at $37,647,530. According to the Financial Times, the GPF purchased 7.5% of BlackRock's new shares.
