Distressed property fund
The Australian Government Future Fund invested $1 billion in a new fund by Brookfield. The new fund will invest in distressed real estate debt and troubled property groups. The fund is expected to have $5 billion. It is believe the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) invested $500 million in the fund. It has been rumored that the China Investment Corporation placed $1 billion into a fund.
