CITIC Capital is a private equity investment company based in China.
The China Investment Corporation currently owns 31.11% of the company. The CIC originally purchased a 40% stake, which has since been diluted due to new shares, in July 2009 and was announced on August 26 for around $250 million. It is also believed that CIC might have given CITIC some extra capital to invest in emerging markets.
Qatar Holdings purchased a stake of 22.22% in August 2012. Most of this stake came from new shares issued by CITIC.[1] [2]
A stake of 42.78% is owned by CITIC International Financial Holdings and CITIC Pacific Limited.
