Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations is the French Sovereign Wealth Fund. The fund has about €30 billion invested in French blue chip companies. Nicolas Sarkozy has called upon Caisse to be "an instrument in our strategy to defend and promote the ... economic interests of the nation".
CDC owns 51% of the France strategic investment fund, which is tasked to support companies suffering from the economic crisis.
