Charles Ong is senior executive at RRJ Capital, while remaining as a senior managing director at Temasek Holdings. He was Chief Strategist at Temasek before taking a leave of absence to join RRJ, a fund which was created by his brother, in September 2011. He was appointed co-CEO of Seatown Holdings in February 2010 but left that position in July 2011.[1] It is unclear if he has given up his role as Chief Strategist at Temasek. He joined Temasek in 2002. He was appointed as chief investment officer until he was replaced by Jimmy Phoon in December 2006. Ong was involved in the Shin Corp transaction, which caused a political crisis in Thailand.
Ong started his career as an investment banker with Lazard Freres & Co.. He also worked for Deutsche Bank in Singapore.
His bother is Richard Ong, who founder of RRJ Capital. He was the co-founder of the Hopu Fund. Temasek invested $1 billion into the fund when it launched in 2008.
