Advanced Technology Investment Company took over the company on December 18, 2009 by purchasing all outstanding shares for $1.8 billion. ATIC paid a total of $3.9 billion which included $2.2 billion for debts and convertible redeemable preference shares.
Since 1987, Temasek Holdings controlled the company. Before selling to ATIC, Temasek controlled 59.47% of the company thought its subsidiary Singapore Technologies Semiconductors Pte Ltd
