People's Bank of China (PBC or PBoC) is China's Central Bank. It has the power to control monetary policy and regulate financial institutions in mainland China. The Governor of the People's Bank of China is nominated by the Premier and approved by the National People's Congress, and is also member of the State Council. The current Governor is Zhou Xiaochuan.
The PBoC had control of the Central Huijin Investment Company and Jianyin Investment before transferring them to the China Investment Corporation in 2007.
The PBoC control the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, which is responsible for investing currency reserves.
