China Investment Corporation's investments in Russia

The China Investment Corporation initially was not active in Russia during the 1st few years of its existence. Starting in 2012, the CIC started taking part in several high-profiled investments, most notably creating the Russia-China Investment Fund with the Russia Direct Investment Fund. The CIC also invested in the IPO of the Moscow Exchange. In March 2013, the CIC agreed to invest in projects that would help develop the Siberia region in Russia.
Jesse Wang, in a visit to Russia in 2010, said the CIC is looking into taking part in some of privatization of state-owned Russian firms. Wang empathized Agricultural and energy as two possible sectors for investments.
