European Goldfields is a basic materials company based in Canada.
Qatar Holdings, a unit of the Qatar Investment Authority, agreed to purchase a 10% stake in the company. It was willing to pay $400 million for the stake and agree to invest an additional $600 million to finance operations in Greece. It would have purchased the equity stake from Ellaktor in October 2011.  However, Eldorado Gold acquired European Goldfields and Qatar Holdings withdrew their bid.
The Government Pension Fund of Norway held a 0.56% stake in the company as of December 31, 2009. The stake is valued at $5,858,674.
