Fortis Healthcare is a health care company based in India. Fortis attempted to takeover Parkway Holdings in the spring of 2010 but was rebuffed.
The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation holds a 6.58% stake. GIC Special Investments, a unit of the GIC, purchased the stake though preferred shares on May 10, 2010. GIC SI purchased 22.35 million shares at $3.66(rs170), which was slightly above the previous day closing price. Fortis might use the GIC's investment to attempt another takeover of Parkway Holdings
