General Motors is a is a major car manufacturer based in the United States. The company was taken over by the United States government in 2008. The company is expected to return to being publicly listed in late 2010 or early 2011.
According to a press account, some sovereign wealth funds might be sought out as cornerstone investors for GM's IPO. These might include Qatar Holdings, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Kuwait Investment Authority, Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, Temasek Holdings, Mubadala Development Company, and Kingdom Holding Company. The Kuwait Investment Authority had initially been confirmed as taking a stake below 1% but that it was rebuffed a few days later.
