Glencore is a private commodities trader based in Switzerland. The company became public in May 2011.
The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation and Aabar Investments were cornerstone investors during the IPO. Aabar acquired $850 million worth of shares, making them the largest investor in the IPO. The GIC will acquire $400 million shares.
Glencore sold $2.2 billion in convertible bonds in December 2009. The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) purchased some of these bonds. The issue values Glencore at $35 billion.
