The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation and Aabar Investments were cornerstone investors during the IPO. Aabar acquired $850 million worth of shares, making them the largest investor in the IPO. Aabar currently has a 1.43% stake in Glencore. The GIC acquired $400 million worth of shares, which give the GIC a 0.4853% stake at the time of the IPO. The GIC has since increased their stake to 0.5553% as a result of buying additional shares.
Glencore sold $2.2 billion in convertible bonds in December 2009. The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) purchased some of these bonds. The issue values Glencore at $35 billion.
