Hopu Investment Management

Hopu Investment Management is an investment management company run by two former Goldman Sachs executives: Fang Fenglei and Richard Ong. It was announced in November 2010 that Hopu would be gradually wound down.
Hopu created the Hopu Fund, which Temasek Holdings invested $1 billion.
Relationship with Temasek
Hopu and Temasek have had a very strong relationship teaming up on several investments.
Charles Ong, the chief strategist at Temasek, is the brother of Richard Ong.
The two funds teamed up for a $300 million investment in Lung Ming, a Chinese iron ore miner, in 2007. In the same year, Temasek invested $300 million in Iron Mining International. Temasek and Hopu teamed up again with a $235 million investment in China Yurun Food Group. Hopu joined Temasek in investing $600 million in Chesapeake Energy.
