Samruk-Kazyna purchased an 11% stake in the company in October 2010. The chairman of Kazakhmys, Vladimir Kim, sold 58.9 million shares directly to Samruk.[1] Samruk-Kazyna along with China Development Bank loaned $2.7 billion to Kazakhmys on December 30, 2009. $2 billion of the loan will help develop a copper project in Boschekul in northern Kazakhstan.
The Government Pension Fund of Norway held a 1.06% stake in the company as of December 31, 2009. The stake is valued at $120,881,271.
