Korea Investment Corporation was established in July 2005. It has around $31.1 billion under management. This is expected to increase by $10 billion during the course of 2008. The government has agreed that the KIC should control $200 billion by 2015. It has invested in mostly foreign currency-denominated bonds and stocks; however, over the course of the last year they have invested heavily in equities and other non-bond assets such as property. The KIC is currently banned from making investments in local Korean companies.
In a surprised move in January 2008, the KIC took a 3% stake in Merrill Lynch

The KIC has $31.1 billion. According to a press account, the Korean government will give the KIC an additional $5 billion to $7 billion in 2010.
