The London Stock Exchange is an operator of stock exchanges based in the United Kingdom.

The Qatar Investment Authority owns 15 per cent of London Stock Exchange. It bought the stake on September 17, 2007. There have been countless rumors that the QIA will mount a takeover of the London Stock Exchange. The QIA owned, 10% of OMX, the Sweedish stock exchange, but sold it's stake to Borse Dubai. Borse Dubai owns 22% of LSE and many people belive that the Borse will give the QIA it's stake as a result of the OMX sale. Borse officials said in February 2008 that in the future if Qatar shows interest in its shareholding in LSE, it might consider their offer.

The Government Pension Fund of Norway held a 1.02% stake in the company as of December 31, 2009. The stake is valued at $31,975,671.
