Michel Pébereau is the CEO and Chairman of the Board for BNP Paribas. In 1993 he was appointed Chairman and CEO of the Banque Nationale de Paris; previously, he was Chairman and CEO of the Crédit Commercial de France. He started his career in 1967 at the Inspection Générale des Finances, and in 1970 he joined the French Treasury where he held various high ranking posts.

His board memberships include EADS, Lafarge, Saint-Gobain, Total, Pargesa Holding SA, Axa, Banque Marocaine pour le Commerce et l’Industrie, European Banking Federation (Chairman), Fédération Bancaire Française, Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, Institut Aspen France, Institut de l’Entreprise, Mouvement des Entreprises en France, Haut Conseil de l’Education, Institut International d’Etudes Bancaires, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Federal Bank of New York, and the International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai.
