PowerSeraya Ltd.
From Taighde
PowerSeraya Ltd. is one of three power plants currently being sold by Temasek Holdings. Starting in 2007, Temasek started the process of selling three power plans that it owned. Tuas Power was the first of these plants to be sold. Then Senoko Power Ltd.. Powerseraya is last plant to be sold. PowerSeraya currently supplies 30% of Singapore's energy needs. It has a capacity of 3,100 megawatts
The sale was launched on October 7, 2008. However, Temasek stopped the sale on November 25, 2008, citing the credit crunch driving the price of the plant down. However, a few days later, YTL Power International Bhd, a Malaysian energy company, submitted a unsolicited bid. The deal, announced on December 2, 2008, is worth $2.5 billion, which was higher then expected for the plant.
