Qatar National Bank(QNB) was established in 1964 as the first Qatari-owned commercial bank
The Qatar Investment Authority owns 50% of the Bank. The government has always owned 50% of the bank since its inception. In 2005, when the QIA was created, the shares were transferred to the fund. Like many Qatari owned companies, all actions done by bank must be approved by the government.
