Rohm & Haas, a chemical company, based in the United States. Dow Chemical agreed to buy Rohm & Haas for $18.8 billion dollars in cash in July 2008. The Kuwait Investment Authority took part in the buyout contributing $1 billion, however, the KIA pulled out of the deal on December 27, 2008, citing a decline of the value of the deal. Since then, the KIA has said that they might consider rejoining the big if the terms are changed to be more favorable to the buyout consortium.
