Shuaiba-3 desal plant

The Shuaiba-3 desal plant is a planned energy generation and seawater desalination in Shuaiba, Saudi Arabia. The plant will have a capacity of 194 million gallons of water daily and produce 900 megawatts of electricity.

The Saudi-Malaysia Water & Electricity Company owns 60% of the plant. The Saudi-Malaysia Water & Electricity Company is a joint venture between several Malaysian companines including Khazanah Nasional and some Saudi Arabian companies. The project is backed by Dutch bank ABN AMRO, Arab Bank, Export-Import Bank of Korea, Riyad Bank and Saudi Hollandi Bank.
