Ownership cap
In September 2010, the Securities and Exchange Board of India has decided to cap the ownership of Indian companies by Temasek Holdings and the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation. Foreign companies are banned from holding more then 10% of a company.[1] The SEBI feels that since Temasek and the GIC are both owned by the Singapore government, they should be considered linked and their separate stakes should be combined; preventing them from taking a stake larger then 15%. The Singapore government has protested the ruling.
