Thames Water is a water utility company in the United Kingdom.
The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority purchased a 9.9% stake of the company from a consortium that currently fully controls the company. The consortium, named Kemble Water Holdings, purchased Thames Water in 2006. ADIA used their subsidiary, Infinity Investments.
In the fall of 2006, the Qatar Investment Authority was involved in the bidding for Thames Water for a reported £8 billion but another bidder, Macquarie, the Australian banking group, had a slightly higher bid.
