Timur Kulibayev

Timur Kulibayev was the chief executive officer of Samruk-Kazyna between April 2011 to December 2011. He was fired from his post as a response to a series of major clashes between striking oil workers and government forces.[1] He was replaced by Umirzak Shukeyev. He was deputy CEO until April 2011, when Kairat Kelimbetov, at the time the current CEO, was appointed as economic development and trade minister of Kazakhstan.[2]
Kulibayev is the son-in-law of Nursultan Nazarbayev, president of Kazakhstan. Kulibayev is one of the richest men in the country with personal assets of over $1.3 billion.[3]
