Turquoise Hill Resources (formerly Ivanhoe Mines) is a basic materials company based in Canada. The company is developing the Ovoot Tolgoi coal mine in Mongolia. The company largest shareholder is Rio Tinto.[1]

Turquoise Hill owns 78.7% of SouthGobi Energy.

Temasek Holdings currently holds 5.5% (40,855,270 shares) of Turquoise Hill. Temasek's holding was announced in June 2012, and the shares were purchased on May 25 from Citigroup. [2][3]

The Government Pension Fund of Norway held a 0.33% stake in the company as of December 31, 2009. The stake is valued at $20,533,104.
