UBS is a financial services company based in Switzerland.
In December 2007, the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation invested $9.7 billion into UBS. These securities reported by the GIC included 228,832,951 ordinary shares resulting from the assumed conversion of CHF 11 billion principal amount of 9% Mandatory Convertible Notes due 2010. The notes will automatically convert into ordinary shares at maturity and may be converted earlier at the option of the holder or the issuer on or after September 6, 2008 until twenty trading days prior to maturity. This, at the time, represented 7.9% of UBS's stock.
The GIC will convert the notes into shares on March 5, 2010. At the time, UBS shares are down 70% from when the GIC purchased the notes. It is believe that the GIC will have an unrealized loss of $5 billion when they convert the shares.
ADIC-UBS Infrastructure Fund
UBS holds a 50% stake in the ADIC-UBS Infrastructure Fund, a joint venture between the Invest AD and UBS.
Government Pension Fund of Norway
The Government Pension Fund of Norway held a 2.24% stake in the company as of December 31, 2009. The stake is valued at $1,233,664,699.
