U Mobile is a telecommunications company primarily focused on mobile operations based in Malaysia. U Mobile controls about 4% of the mobile stake in Malaysia but has been given a 3G license.
Temasek Holdings, though its unit ST Telemedia, will be acquiring 33% of the company. Temasek will pay around $190 million (263 million SGD) for the stake. The deal was announced on March 15, 2010. A few days before, ST Telemedia purchased a small stake in VNPT Global. a Vietnamese telecommunications company.
