Virgin Galactic is a commercial spaceline created by the Virgin Group led by Richard Branson.
Aabar Investments purchased a 32% stake in the company in July 2009 and increased their stake to 37% in October 2011. The initial stake, which costed $280 million, was the first investment outside of the Virgin group into the new spaceline. Aabar paid $110 million to increase their stake by 6%.[1] Aabar is owned by International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC). Aabar also committed $100 million to fund a small satellite launch capability. Aabar is also in talks to launch a spaceport in Abu Dhabi.
