Visa is a credit card issuer based in the United States. In March 2008, Visa had its IPO. Two Sovereign Wealth Funds, the Kuwait Investment Authority and the China Investment Corporation both subscribed to the IPO.

The IPO was held on March 18, 2008. The KIA bought 18 million shares for $44 a share. They took a 4% stake for around $800 million. The CIC invested $100 million. It is believed that the CIC, rather then the State Administration of Foreign Exchange took the stake; however, there was a possibility that it was in fact SAFE. A regulatory filling confirmed that it was indeed the China Investment Corporation that took the stake. As of December 31, 2009, the CIC held 4,045,455 shares with an estimated value of $ 353.815 million.

The Government Pension Fund of Norway held a 0.35% stake in the company as of December 31, 2009. The stake is valued at $228,587,894.
