Wessal is an investment fund created by the governments of Qatar, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, and Morocco. The fund will be initially capitalized with $2.5 billion. The Qatar Investment Authority will be providing the funding on behalf of Qatar. Al Ajial Investments, a unit of the KIA, will contribute Kuwait's share with Aabar Investments doing the same for Abu Dhabi. Morocco's Fund for the Development of Tourism will also contribute. [1]
The fund was announced on November 23, 2011 after a meeting of Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, ruler of Qatar, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi, and King Mohammed, emir of Morocco.
The fund will primarily invest in Morocco and focus on infrastructure deals.
