Zakaria Ahmad Hijris

Zakaria Ahmad Hijris is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Economic Development Board (EDB), a position he's held since October 2003. He was previously a Senior Economist in the Planning and Economic Affairs Department, the Head of Economic Planning in the Directorate of Evaluation and Economic Research, the Director of Economic Planning, and the Assistant Undersecretary for Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance and National Economy.
He is also the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Bahrain and the Deputy Governor of the International Bank of Reconstruction and Development in the United States, as well as a member of the board of directors for the Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, the Bahrain Telecommunication Company (BATELCO), the Gulf Investment Corporation, and the Bahrain Development Bank.
