Apax Partners is a private equity group based in the United Kingdom. GIC Special Investments, a unit of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) and the Australian Government Future Fund hold a stake in the company. The two Sovereign Wealth Funds took the 7.7% stake in February 2009. Apax will use the investments to establish a permanent capital vehicle to invest in its buy-out funds.
The China Investment Corporation invested $1.2 billion (€800 million) into the unnamed capital vehicle of Apax in December 2009 with final regulatory approval occurring in early Febuary. The money will can be called upon for future investments.[1] In the same transaction, the CIC took a 2.3% stake in Apax. The CIC paid $956 million for the stake.
