Hassad Food is a agribusiness based in Qatar. The company was established to ensure the food security of Qatar. The Qatar Investment Authority established the company in 2008. The company has assets around $1 billion. Hassad is expected to spend between $500-$700 million in 2010.
Hassad is expected to be able to met 50% of Qatar's wheat needs within 2010.
Hassad is in talks to buy a sugar plant in Brazil. Hassad is actively looking at farmland in Argentina and Ukraine.[1]
